THREE-PEAT: New Hampshire Home Prices Hit Another Record High Under Costly Kelly
 

For 77 months straight under NH GOP leadership, the median price of a single-family home in New Hampshire has risen, now hitting another record high of $580,000. It’s a 5.5% increase from just over a year ago, and a 36% increase in just over five years. 

Costly Kelly has tried to tout increased housing supply, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. New Hampshire is still “far from a balanced housing market,” and “demand is far outweighing supply.” That shortage has only been exacerbated by Kelly Ayotte’s failure to invest in affordable housing programs. Ayotte slashed millions in funding for the Housing Champions Program, which was responsible for nearly half of all new housing units in the state. 

As it currently stands, the median household income “is 47% less than what is necessary to qualify for the median New Hampshire home. That leaves a mere 15% of New Hampshire families who earn an annual salary that allows them to buy a home at that price. The “persistent shortage of available homes” has caused an “upward pressure on prices,” yet Ayotte barreled forward with reckless cuts, ignoring one of the most pressing issues facing the state. 

“Three record highs in less than two years is hardly a three-peat worth celebrating,” said NHDP spokesperson Marissa Hebert. “Costly Kelly can pat herself on the back all she wants, but her campaign ads can’t change the reality Granite Staters are facing. The question for Kelly Ayotte is simple: How many more record-high home prices will it take before she admits she’s failing the state on housing?”
